PASTOR CLEVELAND E. BATES

Founder, SharpMen Global Inc

Cleveland Bates is a pastor, an author,  gifted in poetry writing, and a great mentor.  As lead pastor of Rose of Sharon Revival Center in Norfolk, VA, his key focus is growing a strong army of believers through authentic biblical teachings and living the Word of God out loud.  Before his calling as a pastor, he served the Greater Mt. Calvary Holy Church, located in Washington, DC, for more than 20 years in various capacities, including Calvary’s Evangelistic Board, Director of Men’s Ministry, co-founder of Bended Knee Men’s Prayer Group, Deacon Board Cell Captain, served on multiple choirs,  Audio Ministry, and Senior Leader of Men’s Accountability Group.

In 2008, Pastor Bates was installed as Pastor at the Rose of Sharon Revival Center and immediately began working with community and city leadership to ensure the church had a seat at the table where community-impacting decisions were being made.  He continues to bring about holistic changes within the community, bridging the gap between the church, the community, and the city.  As a respected leader, Pastor Bates has successfully coordinated large community events, working with the Norfolk City leadership, Norfolk Police Department, various city leagues, non-profit organizations, and major sponsors.

Pastor Bates was selected as one of the top 25 inspirational leaders in the Tidewater, VA, area. Pastor Bates is the author of BOOM (Busting Out of Mediocrity) and is currently publishing his latest work.  He has traveled extensively promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ, including internationally to Nigeria, Kenya, and the Bahamas.  He is a proud father and grandfather, son, and husband.

He is married to Barbara Jackson Bates.
